Holiday!

Well for once I have a good reason for not having written for a while. We've been on holiday !

We went to a farm outside St Austell and had brilliant weather !

The farm (Bosinver) I mentioned last year as we went to the same place. So I won't bore you with the same details over again.

There is loads to do around St Austell and we had a blast.

The boys really loved the beach, although Ben was a little unsure at first, he didn't like the soft sand - 'It's all wobbly'

But after a while he got into the spirit of it and was making sand castles with Harry in no time.

As I burn very easily, I stayed entrenched in a little two man tent we took to the beech and enjoyed a nice relaxing time reading books. (Richard Hammonds Autobiography, Michael Crichton - 'Next', Gordon Ramseys Autobiography). Despite this, the sun snuck around the headland and still managed to shine in through the open tent flap and burn the tops of my feet :(

There is a little pool on the holiday farm we stayed at, here is a photo of the boys about to set off with Mummy to go swimming:

After a long day out, here are the boys, still full of beans and mischief:

During the first week, Carols parents joined us and we went to Wadebridge and hired some bikes and cycled along the Camel Trail to Padstow.

Carols Mum hadn't ridden a bike before so we got her a Trike and she did herself proud, a first bike ride and it was an 11 mile round trip !

Carols Dad had a straight forward mountain bike, whilst Carol and I went for a tandem. We got the cycle hire place to put a Burley trailer on the back of the tandem so the boys could ride together. They loved it !

We also went back to the Eden project and there is an automated show in the restaurant, it basically shows what would disappear from our world and everyday lives if there were no plants left in the world. Bit by bit everything in the set disappears from view either on wires up into the ceiling or through trapdoors in the floor and walls of the set.

Harry & Ben were mesmerized with this and as the show only last 2 minutes, they watched it several times through whilst us grown ups had a drink. Before long Harry was doing the commentary for everyone has he knew it word perfect.

Next day we were back to the beach and Ben was enjoying digging with Mummy:

We also went to Lappa Valley Steam Railway, where the boys got to ride on miniture steam engines, which they totally enjoyed. My Mum was with us and it was great having her there and I know she loved spending the second week of the holiday with us. (Carols Mum and Dad stayed the first week and then went home and my Mum spent the second week with us).

There was a little adventure play ground in the park here and Ben was totally made up with the large tube slide, he would have spent the entire day there. Sliding down and then running back up the hill and going down again. It was tiring just watching him. Where do they get the energy from !

We visited a beautiful National Trust estate at Lanhydrock
Here are two photos I stitched together in Photoshop:

It had amazing gardens:

Well that is it for the moment. I have lots to do around the house now, the gardens are a bit overgrown and I've ripped out the front garden at home. Got rid of some huge trees and now I have to dig a couple of inches down across the whole of the front lawn to cover it with sheets to kill the weeds and then top it off with nice chunky gravel. Then all I'll have to worry about is mowing backgarden :-) - So be warned, it may be a little while before I write again, with this much to do outside, I better make the most of the good weather whilst it is here :-)

Bye for now. Cheers Si.
