Jingle Bells, Daddy Smells & Santas on his way!

Busy busy busy, Carol and I have been rushed off our feet, dashing back and forth. Me to the loo, with the second occurrence of the dreaded stomach bug and Carol with all the Christmas preparations.

Yes a week after I got rid of the dreaded lurgy it came back again, just in time for Carols birthday weekend. Carol's birthday fell on a Saturday and as luck (or rather clever engineering on her part) her company Christmas party was held on the same day - imagine that ! So Carol's parents kindly volunteered to babysit on Saturday night whilst Carol and I went to Reading for the evenings party. We stayed overnight in a very nice Hotel The Malmaison in Reading and the party was just 1/2 a mile down the road. It was one of those corporate parties where several companies all go to the same venue - I'll put a hyperlink here to the company that ran the party, but I imagine it will expire after Christmas and become a dead link, anyway it was a James Bond From Russia With Love - Party

It was a great weekend and a really good party. The boys were as good as gold and did us proud. Nanny & Grandpa will even babysit again in the future - so they must have been good !!!

We got back midmorning on Sunday and at lunch time, we heard a helicopter overhead, when I say overhead I mean overhead, damn it was loud ! then to our concern it got louder and louder ! - when we looked out of the windows all we could see was a whirlwind of leaves. The helicopter landed on the small open space right next to our home. It turned out to be the Hampshire Air Ambulance. So I grabbed a photo of it. Needless to say the boys slept right through it, typical, if I make the slightest noise sometimes it will wake them up. But if a helicopter practically takes the roof off, not a thing !

This will probably be the last entry prior to Christmas now as there is so much going on. But I will post after the holiday with all the stuff we have done.

Here are some photos of the boys, I am gutted as the first two would have been lovely photos, but they shots I took were out of focus, I am so annoyed. But here they are anyway:

This photo is supposed to show Harry's face where he has been eating the wax crayons, I blame his Aunty. My sister was always eating wax crayons as a kid apparently !

Talking of crayons, since the boys have been going to playgroup, colouring in and stickers are a big thing right now. Ben loves colouring in and he especially likes stickers, well they are so versatile, you can stick them anywhere, on anything, including yourself:

The other morning the boys woke up early, and were giggling and shreaking away, I popped the camera round the door and caught them in the act, throwing all their bed things at each other. Hence the reason for them both being blurred, they were in mid throw at the time. Spot the item strewn floor !

I have seen the light !

I have seen the light - praise be.
The light in question was the one in the eye exam machine in the Opthalmology department at the local hospital, which is good because it means I don't have a Glaucoma and therefore I am not going blind in one eye !

A few weeks ago I went for an eye test, I hadn't had one done in a very long time. During the exam the optician noticed that one of my eyes had a large optic disk & nerve.

This could be a birth anomaly or the start of a Glaucoma. So Doctors appointments were made and consultants seen. Which culminated with me seen a specialist on Friday. A short exam later proved that it was in fact just a birth defect and I have perfectly normal/good vision. So panic over :-)

The boys had their first playgroup Christmas show yesterday afternoon and they all sat/stood on stage and sang little Christmas songs about stars in the sky and Christmas puddings and Father Christmas getting stuck in chimneys etc. It was lovely and the boys were very well behaved, although they did dance about more than anybody else, but I don't think anybody minded :-)

Unfortunately I can't post pictures of it because there are loads of other peoples children in the shots and it would be wrong of me to post pictures of them here without every single parents permission etc. So you'll just have to take my word for it.
