Spirit of Christmas Past

Christmas was excellent, full on, but excellent. We had a quiet Christmas morning with our boys. They really got excited opening the presents and had more of an idea of what was happening this year.

Father Christmas got them a Postman Pat play set and a Bob the Builder play set.

We got them a Leap Frog mini computer you plug into the TV and it has fun educational games. (God don't you just hate the term 'Edutainment').

They haven't quite grasped the idea of taking turns on it and using the mouse for some games and the keyboard for others. Still they are young and this Leap Frog should last them a while.

Midmorning we drove over (a couple of miles)to my brother in laws to spend Christmas day with all of Carol's side of the family. My three nieces were amongst the few who actually got a Wii for Xmas, they are like rocking horse poo, and still are. No store has them. Emma and Heather also got little Nintendo DS's each, how lucky are they !

Needless to say the Wii went down a storm and everyone had a go and a right giggle was had by all.

Boxing Day we drove up to Northamptionshire to spend the day at my Mum's house with her and my sisters family.

We had a lovely time and again the boys were spoiled rotten. Mum did her usual feeding of the 5000 and we all were very stuffed. She is a good cook and secretly enjoys laying on a feast.

The aftermath of Boxing Day lunch:

Not sure where my niece Hannah was when I took this, she must have been behind me or out of the room.

Boxing Day evening we drove back home. The next day (Thursday) we busied around the house getting everywhere tidy before my friend Claire came down that night.

Claire had got tickets for her and her two lovely daughters to go to the O2 Millennium Dome exhibition of the Treasures of Tutankhamen's Tomb.

So I suggested to her that if she wanted to drive down from Walsall on the Thursday night they could stay over and I could drop them off at the Station on Friday so they could go into London via the train and have a shorter journey to get there. So that was the plan. It worked out lovely and Claire and her girls, Izzie and Alicia had a great day out in London. They stayed over Friday night and spent the day with us on Saturday. It was lovely to catch up with them and we had a really nice day. So Claire and the girls left late afternoon on Saturday. We got the boys off to bed in the evening and then flaked out in front of the telly.

Sunday our mate Julia came over and spent the day with us which was great. We had a relaxing day with her and a nice meal later on.

So that was our Christmas, pretty busy. We all did really well present wise, I didn't try listing them all here. But a big thank you to everyone for the lovely time, company and laughs we had and the lovely presents.

So only about 350 odd shopping days until next Christmas, when we can do it all again !!!

You never know the Wii's might be back in stock by then and Carol and I can buy ourselves one (it was our planned Xmas present to each other, but we just couldn't find one anywhere, so we are waiting until February when they should be back in stock)

Happy New Year !
